" Death does not need to be dark and frightening if we talk about it openly and work to make every moment special. Love and laughter can co-exist with loss and heartache. "
~ Bonnie Jo Freeman ~
For individuals who:
- feel overwhelmed & that there aren't enough hours in a day
- need to recognize the importance of self-care
- need to recognize the importance of self-care
What to expect:
Through ongoing dialogue with your caregivers, I will offer supportive care to them as well as everyone else involved. I believe it is truly a team effort and having everyone on the same page certainly creates a more peaceful atmosphere. If and when that doesn't happen naturally, I will engage when needed to see where the breakdown may be occurring. Discussing it usually gives it the voice it needs to take care of itself through minor or major adjustments. This is a stressful time, accompanied by fear and feelings of loss and being overwhelmed. As a caregiver I recognize this and can help by being with you and your family to process those feelings.
Extra Hands:
Caregiver supportive care is an area that I recognize and pay close attention to for several reasons. Being proactive vs reactive when it comes to potential caregiver burnout, which will undoubtedly happen along the way unless you possess some type of super power that I'm unaware of yet, is key to making this season the most it can be. I will offer periods of time during our visits for your caregivers to plan on doing something to fill their own cup. An hour or two here and there can mean so much to someone who has neglected their own self-care for awhile.
